The Offline Lab · a lab that travels

The Lab doesn't have an address. It comes to you.

The Offline Lab is a travelling experiment. I bring it into offices, homes, conferences, kitchens, forests — wherever people actually live with their phones — and build experiences that have never been run before. Every one is designed for the room it happens in.

How it works.

It moves

No venue, no fixed schedule. The Lab is set up wherever the question is — a company floor, a living room, a festival, a trip.

It's new every time

Each run is an experiment that hasn't been done before: a new constraint, a new setting, a new thing to find out about life without the device.

It's observed

I run it as a psychologist, not a host. What people say and do without their phones is the data, and it gets written up.

Questions about the Lab.

What is The Offline Lab?
The Offline Lab is Lior Ziv's live research into digital disconnection. It is a travelling experiment, not a retreat or a venue: the device is removed from ordinary life — at work, at home, at the table — and what returns to focus, rest, sleep and human connection is observed and written up.
Where does The Offline Lab take place?
Wherever the question is. The Lab has no address; it is set up in offices, living rooms, conferences, kitchens and forests. It comes to you rather than asking people to travel to it.
Is a phone-free experience the same as a digital detox retreat?
No. A retreat removes people from their lives for a weekend and changes little on Monday. The Lab runs inside ordinary life, in the rooms where phone habits actually happen, which is where durable change comes from.
Can you run a phone-free experience for our company or event?
Yes. The Lab is run inside organizations, at conferences and at private gatherings. Each run is designed for the specific room, guided as a structured experiment and debriefed afterwards. Send an inquiry with your date and audience.
How long does a session last and how many people can attend?
Formats range from a short guided experiment to a half-day on-site Offline Experience, typically for 10 to 200 participants. The format is agreed on a pre-call before anything is designed.
When is the next Offline Lab experiment?
Upcoming experiments are announced here and in the Let's Rest newsletter. If you want the Lab run for your team or event before then, send an inquiry.
